If you’ve completed your degree from Tribhuvan University and need your transcript — for further studies, a study abroad application, a job, or a visa — here is the exact process, updated for 2082/2083.

Good news first: TU now has a fully online transcript application system, launched in Baisakh 2082. You no longer need to physically visit Balkhu for the initial application. That said, the offline process still works if you prefer it or if you run into issues with the portal.

When Do You Need a TU Transcript?

  • Applying for a Master’s degree in Nepal or abroad
  • University admission applications internationally (most foreign universities require it)
  • Nepal student visa / NOC application for study abroad
  • Government job applications (Lok Sewa, Nepal Army, Nepal Police, teaching license)
  • Foreign employment documentation
  • TU equivalency certificate (if you need your foreign degree recognised in Nepal)

Online Process — student.tuexam.edu.np

All TU transcript applications are now handled through student.tuexam.edu.np — the Office of the Controller of Examinations portal.

  1. Visit the portal and register. Go to student.tuexam.edu.np. Create an account using your email address and mobile number. Confirm your registration via the email sent to you.
  2. Log in and fill out the application form. Enter your details exactly as they appear on your registration card — name, faculty, programme, year of passing. Upload scanned copies of your mark sheets. If there are any discrepancies between your mark sheets and the records in the system, use the portal’s rectification feature to flag them before submitting.
  3. Pay the fee online. Payment is processed through the linked bank portal directly from the student portal. Keep your payment confirmation.
  4. Submit and note your Application ID. After submitting, you receive an Application ID slip. Download and save it — you will need it to collect your transcript.
  5. Collection. Once your transcript is ready, visit the TU Office of the Controller of Examinations at Balkhu with your Application ID slip and your original mark sheets. You will be notified of the collection date through the portal or SMS.

⚠️ If your mark sheets obtained online differ from your originals — present both the Application ID slip and original mark sheets at the time of collection as per the portal guidelines.

Offline Process — Walk-in at Balkhu

If you prefer the in-person process or face issues with the online portal, the offline process at TU Office of the Controller of Examinations, Balkhu, Kathmandu still works.

  1. Go to the bank counter at Balkhu — Nepal Bank Limited or Global IME Bank (both have counters near the OCE). Pay the required transcript fee and fill out the invoice in 3 copies. Keep one copy carefully — you’ll need it to collect your transcript.
  2. Find your faculty room number at the bank counter or from the OCE notice board.
  3. Submit all your mark sheets to the concerned faculty department room along with your bank invoice copy.
  4. Get your collection date. The department will give you a date to return. This is typically a few working days later depending on how busy the office is.
  5. Return on the given date with your invoice copy and valid ID to collect your transcript.

Documents You Need

  • All original mark sheets (semester/year-wise)
  • Registration card / admit card
  • Citizenship certificate (photocopy)
  • Passport-size photograph
  • Payment voucher (offline) or payment confirmation (online)

After Your Transcript — What’s Next?

If you are applying to study abroad, a TU transcript is usually one of several documents required. You will also typically need:

  • NOC (No Objection Certificate) from the Ministry of Education — required for student visa applications to most countries
  • Degree certificate / provisional certificate — apply separately through the same OCE portal or at Balkhu
  • Document legalisation / apostille — for use outside Nepal, most countries require your TU documents to be legalised through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
