Overview
Sainik Awasiya Mahavidyalaya (SAM) is Nepal's premier military residential educational institution, operated under the Nepal Army Welfare Fund and guided by the motto "Gyanena Paramo Sewa" โ meaning "Imparting Knowledge Is the Greatest Service." The main campus is located at Sallaghari, Bhaktapur (SAMB), with a network of branch campuses across Nepal.
The institution traces its origins to 1978 AD (2035 BS), when it was established at Bhimphedi, Makawanpur as Suping Multiple Campus โ a constituent campus of Tribhuvan University jointly funded by the Nepal Army and TU. It was relocated to Sallaghari, Bhaktapur in 2043 BS, operated as Birendra Sainik Awasiya Mahavidyalaya (BSAMV) until 2067 BS, and was renamed to its current form โ Sainik Awasiya Mahavidyalaya, Bhaktapur (SAMB) โ in Shrawan 2067.
SAM provides quality education in a structured, disciplined residential environment to both children of Nepal Army personnel (serving and retired) and civilian students. It offers a seamless educational pathway from Grade 4 through bachelor's level on the same campus.

Admissions
SAM admits both children of Nepal Army personnel (serving and retired) and civilian students. Admission is competitive and merit-based, conducted separately for school-level and college-level programs.
+2 Level (Science / Management / Humanities)
- Must have completed SEE or equivalent from a recognized school
- Both military family students and non-military civilians are eligible

- Must have passed Grade 5 from a government-recognized school with minimum 50% marks or GPA 2.4
- Age must not exceed 12 years as of Baisakh 1 of the academic year
