Overview

Kathford International College of Engineering and Management is a leading Tribhuvan University-affiliated institution located at Balkumari Chowk, Lalitpur — in the heart of the Kathmandu Valley. Established in 2003, Kathford began with a BBA program and systematically expanded: Engineering programs (BE Civil, Computer, Electronics) in 2005; BSc CSIT in 2007; and BBM and BCA in 2018. Today it is home to over 1,000 students across 7 undergraduate programs spanning Engineering, IT, and Management.

Kathford's philosophy is grounded in the belief that learning extends beyond the classroom. The college integrates research, project work, clubs, industry engagement, and a distinctive "Spread Your Knowledge" peer-learning culture alongside rigorous academics. It publishes the Kathford Journal of Engineering and Management on NepJOL, and houses specialized R&D units including a Robotics Club (ROBOKATH), an open-source community (KATHFOSS), and an FPGA research center in collaboration with Digitronix Nepal.

Admissions

BE Computer / BE Civil / BE Electronics, Communication & Information (IOE)

• Minimum Grade 'C' in all subjects in PCL/+2 Science with Physics (or Biology with Extra Maths)
• Must pass IOE Entrance Examination (Computer-Based Test / CBT)

BSc CSIT (IOST)

• Minimum Grade 'C' in all subjects in PCL/+2 Science (Physics or Biology stream)
• Must pass TU IOST Entrance Exam

BBA / BBM (FoM)

• Minimum Grade 'C' in all subjects in PCL/+2 (any stream)
• Must pass CMAT (Common Management Admission Test) conducted by TU Faculty of Management

BCA (FOHSS)

• Minimum Grade 'C' in all subjects in PCL/+2
• Must pass TU BCA Entrance Test

• KATHFOSS (Free & Open Source Software Community): Open-source software research and development; organizes KathFOSS Talk series, Linux Talk, GitHub Workshops, Wireless Hacking, Cyber Security, Open Source Technology training, and Hackathons
• Kathford-XUP Center: FPGA-based research and development in collaboration with Digitronix Nepal; holds 25 VIVADO and ISE licenses; organizes national-level FPGA competitions
• Creative Club: Idea camps, competitions, and forums to develop professional, communication, and teamwork skills
• KathCESS: Civil Engineering students' forum for academic activities, trainings, external competitions, and industry connections

Publications

Kathford publishes the Kathford Journal of Engineering and Management on NepJOL (Nepal Journals Online) — an academic journal featuring research contributions from faculty and students.

Engineering Scholarships (BE Civil / Computer / Electronics)

• Full Course Scholarship: One full scholarship covering all fees for the 4-year program, awarded to the top student in the IOE Entrance Exam across each engineering program
• Academic Excellence Scholarship: Tuition fee waiver for the following semester, awarded to the highest-ranked student in each engineering course each semester

BSc CSIT Scholarships

• IOST Entrance Toppers' Scholarship: Up to 100% tuition fee waiver for the top 10 IOST entrance exam scorers
• EB Pearls Australia Scholarship: 50% tuition waiver for 2 female students for the full course, sponsored by EB Pearls Pvt. Ltd. (Sydney-based IT company); awarded via a scholarship test and interview conducted by EB Pearls experts during the first semester
• Academic Excellence Scholarship: Tuition fee waiver for the following semester for the highest-ranked CSIT student each semester

BCA Scholarships

• EB Pearls Australia Scholarship: 50% tuition waiver for 2 female students for the full course (same process as BSc CSIT)

BBA / BBM Scholarships

• Government Education Scholarship: 50% of total fees for the 4-year program, awarded to the 4 best students who completed their SLC/SEE from government schools
• Academic Excellence Scholarship: Tuition fee waiver for the following semester for the highest-ranked BBA/BBM student each semester
