Overview
St. Xavier's College (SXC), located at Maitighar, Kathmandu, is one of Nepal's most respected institutions of higher learning. Established in 1988 and managed by the Nepal Jesuit Society, SXC is a private, co-educational institution operating under the motto "Dedicated to Excellence, Leadership, Service."
The Jesuits' educational presence in Nepal dates back to 1951, beginning with St. Xavier's School in Godavari. The college at Maitighar has since grown into a full-fledged higher education institution offering 13 programs β from Cambridge A Level and NEB +2 to bachelor's and master's degrees β across science, management, humanities, and social sciences.
SXC operates two campuses: the main Maitighar campus (TU and NEB programs) and the Loyola Campus at Thapathali (Cambridge A Level). The college is accredited by the University Grants Commission of Nepal and holds academic affiliations with the National Examination Board, Cambridge Assessment International Education, Tribhuvan University, and Kathmandu University.

Admissions
Admission to St. Xavier's College is highly competitive and strictly merit-based across all programs. The college conducts its own internal evaluations in addition to university entrance requirements.
+2 Science (NEB)
- Minimum 'A' grade in Science, Compulsory Mathematics, Optional Mathematics, and English; minimum 'B+' in all other SEE subjects
- Must pass a 100-question MCQ entrance exam covering Science, Mathematics, English, and Logic
- Shortlisted candidates must appear for an interview before a panel of three experts
Cambridge A Level (Loyola Campus, Thapathali)
Eligibility and selection follow Cambridge International Education standards. Contact the college for current intake details.
B.Sc Physics
- Completed +2 / A Level with Mathematics, minimum Grade C / Second Division
- Must pass TU entrance exam and SXC internal evaluation
B.Sc Microbiology
- Completed +2 / A Level with Biology as a major subject
- Must pass TU entrance exam and SXC internal evaluation
B.Sc CSIT
- +2 Physical Group with Mathematics (100 marks), minimum Grade 'C' in every subject; or A Level Science with Physics
- Must pass TU CSIT entrance exam and SXC internal evaluation
BBS / BA / BITM
Eligibility follows TU guidelines. Selection involves TU entrance results and SXC's internal evaluation process.
MBS
- Any bachelor's degree recognized by Tribhuvan University with a good academic record
- Must pass the CMAT test (conducted by TU) and SXC's internal evaluation
MSc Physics / MSc Microbiology
- 3 or 4-year bachelor's degree in the respective subject from a recognized university, minimum 50%
- Must pass the TU entrance examination
