Nepali students needing a visa should apply before June 30 for the September intake to allow adequate visa processing time. Early Application Awards for the 2026 intake are already fully awarded; merit scholarships including the LDC/LLDC scholarship remain open.
Overview
ESMT Berlin โ the European School of Management and Technology โ is Germany's highest-ranked business school, founded by 25 leading global companies including Deutsche Telekom, Siemens, and Volkswagen. Located in a historic palace in central Berlin, ESMT offers Master's and MBA programmes with a strong focus on responsible leadership, technology, and global management.
ESMT offers over 30 scholarships and awards across its programmes, covering everything from gender diversity and STEM excellence to social impact and regional background. Scholarships are applied for as part of the programme application โ there is no separate form. You answer a short scholarship essay question inside the application.
Nepali students are directly eligible for the Developing Country Scholarship (LDC/LLDC), which covers up to 50% of tuition fees for residents of UN-designated Least Developed Countries and Landlocked Developing Countries. Nepal qualifies under both categories.
Programmes Available
- Full-time MBA โ one year, โฌ43,500 tuition. Min. 3 years work experience required.
- Master in Global Management (MGM) โ two years, โฌ36,000 tuition. For recent graduates.
- Master in Innovation & Entrepreneurship (MIE) โ two years, โฌ36,000 tuition.
- Master in Analytics & Artificial Intelligence (MAAI) โ two years, โฌ36,000 tuition.
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. ESMT strongly advises international students who need a visa to apply before June 30 to allow time for visa processing. Scholarships are limited โ applying early significantly improves your chances.
Eligibility
General Eligibility (All Programmes)
- Open to all nationalities โ Nepali students are eligible and encouraged to apply
- Must hold a completed Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field
- English proficiency required (IELTS, TOEFL, or equivalent)
- GMAT, GRE, or ESMT's own Business Admission Test (BAT) required for MBA; recommended for Master's programmes
- Scholarships are available to self-funded candidates only โ those sponsored by an employer or government are not eligible
MBA-Specific Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of post-graduate professional work experience
- GMAT/GRE/BAT score required
Master's-Specific Requirements
- Recent graduates welcome โ no minimum work experience required for most Master's programmes
- Candidates from quantitative backgrounds (STEM, finance, economics) are especially encouraged to apply for scholarships
Who is Not Eligible
- Students sponsored by an employer, government, or external scholarship body โ scholarships are for self-funded applicants only
- Students applying to Executive MBA (EMBA) or part-time programmes โ scholarship structures differ; check the EMBA scholarships page separately
- ESMT Family Grant and Siblings Grant are restricted to children/siblings of ESMT alumni only
- BMW Group Change Maker Fellowship (Master's) is restricted to citizens of Germany, India, Portugal, Romania, Brazil, China, USA, or South Africa โ Nepali students are not eligible for this specific fellowship
- Panzer Scholarship is restricted to citizens and residents of African countries
How to Apply
All ESMT scholarships are applied for inside the programme application โ you do not submit a separate scholarship form. The process is the same for both MBA and Master's applicants.
- Choose your programme: Full-time MBA, Master in Global Management, Master in Innovation & Entrepreneurship, or Master in Analytics & AI
- Start your application at apply.esmt.berlin and pay the โฌ50 application fee
- Within the application, find the Scholarships section โ you can apply for up to three scholarships but will only be awarded one
- Write a short essay (typically 200โ400 words) for each scholarship explaining how you qualify โ each scholarship has its own specific essay question
- Submit your complete application โ the Admissions Committee reviews applications within 2โ4 weeks on a rolling basis
- Scholarship decisions are made alongside or shortly after admission decisions
- If awarded, the scholarship amount is directly deducted from your tuition invoice
