Overview

Humber College in Toronto, Canada offers International Entrance Scholarships to new international students across January, May, and September intakes. The scholarships have evolved significantly since their launch and now include multiple tiers โ€” from a CAD 2,000 entrance award to a full tuition scholarship โ€” along with a newer President's International Entrance Award introduced in 2025.

Humber is one of Canada's largest polytechnic institutions, known for career-focused diploma, advanced diploma, graduate certificate, and bachelor's programmes across two main Toronto campuses. It is a popular destination for Nepali students due to its practical curriculum, Toronto location, and post-graduation work permit (PGWP) eligibility.

Scholarship Tiers

  • International Entrance Scholarship (CAD 2,000) โ€” the core entrance award, applied as CAD 1,000 off tuition per semester for the first two semesters. Available across September, January, and May intakes.
  • Merit Scholarships (CAD 3,000 / CAD 5,000 / Full Tuition) โ€” higher-value awards for exceptional academic performance. One full tuition and one CAD 5,000 scholarship available in January; seven CAD 5,000 and two CAD 3,000 scholarships available in September.
  • President's International Entrance Award (CAD 2,000) โ€” introduced April 2025 for international students living outside Canada who accept their offer of admission and submit their study permit application within specified deadlines.

Important note for Nepali students: Only one student per country is selected per intake for the entrance scholarship. Competition within the Nepali applicant pool is therefore direct โ€” the strongest academic profile from Nepal in any given semester receives the award.

Eligibility

International Entrance Scholarship (CAD 2,000)

  • New international student enrolling in a diploma, advanced diploma, graduate certificate, or bachelor's programme at Humber
  • GPA of 85% or above in senior year of high school, college, or university
  • IELTS 6.5 or equivalent (TOEFL, Duolingo, or senior high school English grade)
  • Not a transfer student โ€” must be entering Humber for the first time
  • Must have received a Letter of Acceptance, confirmed the offer, and submitted a scholarship application by the deadline
  • Only one recipient per country per semester โ€” competition is limited to other Nepali applicants in the same intake

President's International Entrance Award (CAD 2,000)

  • International student living outside Canada without a Humber DLI study permit
  • Must accept an offer of admission to an eligible full-time programme (EAP and Board Certificate programmes excluded)
  • Must submit a study permit application to IRCC within the specified deadline for your intake
  • Award is granted once per student across eligible intakes โ€” not stackable across terms

International students already in Canada

International applicants already living in Canada may be eligible for a one-time CAD 1,000 entrance scholarship under a separate stream.

How to Apply

There is no standalone scholarship application for most Humber entrance awards โ€” eligibility is assessed as part of the admissions process.

  1. Apply for admission to an eligible full-time programme at Humber College through the Ontario Colleges application system (ontariocolleges.ca) or directly through Humber's international admissions portal.
  2. Receive your Letter of Acceptance and confirm your offer of admission before the intake-specific deadline.
  3. Complete the scholarship application โ€” for merit-based awards (CAD 3,000, CAD 5,000, full tuition), a separate scholarship application form is included with your acceptance package. Submit it by the stated deadline along with academic transcripts, reference letters, and a statement of interest.
  4. For the President's Award โ€” submit your study permit application to IRCC within the deadline specified for your intake after accepting your offer. No separate scholarship form is required.
  5. Receive notification โ€” successful scholarship recipients are notified by Humber's International Office. Awards are applied directly to tuition fees.
